Beacon Hill

Beacon Hill es una zona residencial del siglo XIX situada al norte del Boston Common y de el Boston Public Garden. La mayoría de la gente de la ciudad piensa que se trata de una zona donde la gente vive de forma anónima y aislada. Sin embargo, son más de 10.000 personas las que viven allí, por ello es más parecida a una aldea que a una ciudad anónima. Dentro de Beacon Hill podemos encontrar calles como Beacon, Bowdoin, Cambridge y Storrow Drive. Sus hermosas puertas, los golpeadores de cobre amarillo, los elementos decorativos en hierro, las aceras de ladrillo, las luces del gas se queman día y noche, los árboles de pera florecidos son algunas de las características que diferencian a Beacon Hill del resto de la ciudad.

En cuanto a su arquitectura, sobre todo prima el ladrillo que incluye los períodos federales, griegos del renacimiento y el Victoriano, así como hogares y viviendas coloniales del siglo XX. La arquitectura está protegida por las regulaciones restrictivas que no permiten ningún cambio en ninguna parte visible de una estructura sin la aprobación de una comisión arquitectónica.

La calle de Charles es la calle principal de la vecindad y se llena de las tiendas antiguas, restaurantes y tiendas de ropa como las que os indico a continuación.
